Careers Worcestershire (Careers Worcs) is encouraging young people across Worcestershire to start the year with confidence and motivation through the launch of its first ever Let’s Move! Week.
Taking place 19 to 24 January, at Careers Worcs hubs across the county, Let’s Move! Week is designed to help young people aged 16–24 build a positive outlook by focusing on both physical and mental wellbeing, recognising the important role this plays when making decisions about jobs, education or training.
Careers Worcestershire, part of Worcestershire County Council, provides free careers, employment, education, training and wellbeing support to young people across the county.
Let’s Move! Week aims to support young adults to develop positive routines that boost confidence, motivation and resilience, helping them feel more prepared and optimistic about their next steps.
Councillor Alan Amos, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Business and Skills at Worcestershire County Council said: “Let’s Move! Week is an opportunity for young people to take responsibility for their wellbeing. Confidence and positive habits don’t happen by chance, they are built through motivation and support. I would strongly encourage young people aged 16–24 to take part in the sessions on offer and make the most of the support provided by Careers Worcestershire.”
The initiative highlights the close connection between physical activity and mental wellbeing, and how maintaining both can help young people feel more focused, energised and ready to re-engage with their career journey at the start of the year.
Jennie Ellis, Careers and Employment Team Manager at Careers Worcestershire, said: “Having a positive outlook is crucial when you’re job searching or deciding on your next career, education or training move. That positivity often comes from taking care of both your physical and mental wellbeing. Let’s Move! Week is about helping young people build confidence and motivation through simple, achievable activities, so they feel more resilient, focused and positive about their next steps.”
A range of activities will run throughout Let’s Move! Week, including a motivational session, wellbeing-focused workshops and physical activities such as a ‘Mile a Day’ challenge, a guided wellbeing walk, chair-based yoga, and more.
