Worcestershire County Council hosted a Celebration Event to recognise and honour the incredible achievements of care experienced young people across the county.

Staff across Children’s Services worked tirelessly together to put on the event – creating stunning balloon arches, decorating the room and transforming the space into a vibrant and welcoming celebration venue.

Local vendors also joined with a potato van and pizza van serving delicious food that was enjoyed by all. Worcester Bosch provided the function room free of charge and young people were thrilled to meet their mascot, Bobby the Boiler, as well as receive a free goody bag filled with treats.

The evening was split into two sessions to cater for different age groups. The first session welcomed younger children and included a talented balloon artist to make crowns and flowers that delighted the children. This was followed by a disco that had everyone up dancing with faces full of smiles and laughter.

Young people aged 12 and over attended the later session and the celebrations continued with lively music, creative crafts, and plenty of time to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

A highlight of the night was the presentation of certificates and trophies. Every award was personal and meaningful to the young person receiving it – from celebrating hard work in sporting events to recognising 100% school attendance.

Ruth Hill, Assistant Director for Child Protection and Through Care at Worcestershire County Council said: “Seeing the room filled with such joy and laughter was incredibly special and a real reminder of why we do what we do. Many young people spoke about how special it made them feel to be recognised in such a positive and uplifting way. The applause, cheers, and smiles around the room captured just how much these moments meant both to the young people and to the carers and staff who support them.”

Councillor Justin Bowen, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for Children and Families said: “A huge thank you to the staff who put so much time and care into organising this celebration event – and to Worcester Bosch for their support. Young people should be so proud of all they have accomplished, and I’m pleased that we could show them just how valued and celebrated they are.”
