Worcestershire County Council’s Digital Connectivity team has continued to make strong progress in improving digital connectivity across the county over the past year.
- Gigabit broadband coverage has reached 86.8% of premises, exceeding the national target and keeping us on track to reach 90% by 2027.
The council has published Getting the most out of your Broadband Connection guidance to help residents and businesses get the most from their broadband, particularly where speeds don’t match contracts.
Through the River Severn Partnership, the Council has gathered real-world mobile connectivity data to better understand coverage challenges across Worcestershire. Further information can be found here: Mobile Connectivity Data for Worcestershire webpage. The Mobile Coverage Checker allows you to see what the connectivity is in the areas they have collected it.
Trials of outdoor-to-indoor mobile boosters, including the Council’s Wildwood offices, in Worcester have shown benefits for both service delivery and staff welfare.
Preparations are underway for the UK digital switchover, with landline services moving to broadband ahead of 2027.
The Council is working with communities and providers to test solutions, including equipment loans and small-cell trials in areas with poor or no signal.
