Residents in Worcestershire are being encouraged to subscribe to cold-weather alerts via the Met Office and the UK Health Security Agency to help stay safe and up to date as the temperatures drop.

By signing up, you’ll receive timely warnings and advice on how colder and potentially icy conditions can impact health, travel and local services. This is especially relevant for those aged 65 and over or living with long-term health conditions.

Alongside signing-up for alerts, the County Council also offers some practical tips: If you can keep living rooms at least 18 °C, stay well hydrated (1.5 to 2 litres each day), and practice good hand hygiene by regularly washing your hands and drying them well, to prevent the spread of winter bugs and illnesses.
