As the country marks No Smoking Day this March, smokers in Worcestershire now have even more help to quit.
No Smoking Day takes place on the second Wednesday in March each year and encourages people across the UK to stop smoking for good.
Quit Coach is a new, free support service available through WhatsApp, designed for anyone who prefers virtual support.
It sends guidance, encouragement and personalised tips directly to your phone or device. Support is also available in different languages so more people can use the service.
Quitting smoking is one of the most powerful choices you can make for your health. It lowers your risk of cancers, heart attacks, strokes and other serious conditions. It also protects the people you care about and helps you save money along the way.
In Worcestershire, 7.5% of adults smoke, and support like Quit Coach can make a real impact on helping residents quit and move closer to a smokefree society.
Councillor Satinder Bell, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing at Worcestershire County Council, said: “If you have quit before and then started again, I’d encourage you to keep trying. Your next quit could be the one that sticks. Research shows you’re far more likely to quit for good with support and there’s plenty available in Worcestershire.
“Our new Quit Coach WhatsApp support is available 24/7 and is ideal for busy lives. It’s there in the palm of your hand whenever you need advice or encouragement.
“There’s also lots of other personal support available in Worcestershire, where you can regularly talk to friendly stop smoking advisors who understand what you’re going through and can help you stay on track.”
There’s no perfect moment to quit smoking, but No Smoking Day is a great time to start, especially when so many others are taking the same step.
In 2025, 1,630 adults in Worcestershire tried to quit with us. Services like Quit Coach can give you the extra support you need.
In Worcestershire, our stop smoking service offers support to any adult who lives in the county or is registered with a local GP. You can access friendly advisors over the phone and receive quitting aids to help you on your journey.
If you are pregnant or live with someone under 19 years old, you can get even more support to quit.
