Worcestershire County Council’s annual Skills Expo returns this March, with extra exhibitor places available for local employers keen to inspire the county’s future workforce.
Skills Expo is one of Worcestershire’s largest careers events, bringing together thousands of local students from schools across the county. Over two days, young people will have the opportunity to meet employers, take part in hands-on activities, and explore the wide range of post-education opportunities available locally.
The event, formerly known as The Worcestershire Skills Show, welcomes businesses from across all sectors and is the region’s largest careers event for young people. Organisers are keen to build on that success this year by featuring more organisations from health and social care, travel and tourism, hospitality, sports, and the creative industries.
Councillor Alan Amos, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Skills and Business at Worcestershire County Council, said, “2026 is the year businesses need to step up, take part, and embrace every chance to engage with the next generation of workers. Skills Expo is about more than information, it’s about motivation. This event gives employers a direct role in shaping the workforce our county will need in the years ahead, while firing up students to explore the industries that make up Worcestershire and start thinking seriously about the career paths and opportunities open to them.”
Skills Expo takes place over two days, Wednesday 4 – Thursday 5 March, at Sixways Stadium, with invited Worcestershire high schools visiting during the day and a dedicated parents and carers session on the Wednesday evening.
The event is produced by Careers Worcestershire, part of the county council’s Skills and Employability service, in partnership with the Careers and Enterprise Company.
Judy Gibbs, Head of Skills and Employability at Worcestershire County Council, said, “Skills Expo is one of the highlights of our year. It gives students the chance to explore different industries, speak directly to employers, and make more informed decisions about their next steps. We already have a strong line-up, but this year I want us to ‘go big’. I’m encouraging organisations from the creative industries, sports, health and social care, tourism, and hospitality to get involved and help shape Worcestershire’s future workforce.”
