Provision Mapping for SEND in Early Years Cohorts
Cohort provision mapping is a simple but effective way to gain an overview of SEND across your setting.
It helps you to:
- Identify the range of needs within your current cohort
- Show the universal, targeted and specialist support in place
- Evidence what is ordinarily available and what is additional
- Support EHCNA applications
- Plan staffing, resources and training
Using a blank provision map template allows you to clearly record children’s areas of need alongside the provision, interventions, staffing and external agency support in place.
The purpose is to provide a clear overview of children’s needs and the resources that support them, helping settings plan effectively and demonstrate inclusive practice.
