Information about kinship fostering.

Our Kinship Care Local Offer

Kinship fostering is where friends or family members have been assessed and approved as foster carers to care for particular children whose parents have consented for their child to be looked after.

The Local Authority share parental responsibility for children on care orders with their birth parents and social workers will remain actively involved in the child’s life.

Our Local Offer to Kinship Carers

We are in the process of reviewing and developing our Local Offer to Kinship Carers.

The Kinship Local Offer is a new legal duty on local authorities to set out the support available in their area to children and their Kinship Carers. The Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill that is currently going through Parliament introduced the new duty.

Whilst we review and further develop our Worcestershire County Council Kinship Local Offer, we would like to share kinship information, and details of how to access kinship support.

Additional support

From September 2024 Worcestershire Virtual school will provide advice and information to all kinship carers with Special Guardianship and Child Arrangements Orders as part of their non-statutory role.
