A Welcome Group is a community-led initiative that helps new residents, who are seeking sanctuary, feel settled and supported when they move into the area. The group offers friendly guidance, local information, and opportunities to connect with neighbours, services, and community activities. By creating a warm first point of contact, Welcome Groups help build strong, inclusive communities where everyone feels they belong.

All of our programmes would not be a success without support from Councils, partners, voluntary groups and communities.

How can you help

Prospective landlords

Any landlords and letting agents with potential property offers are encouraged to contact us. Suitable housing continues to be our biggest priority.

Donations and volunteers

Our Welcome Groups rely on the generosity of local people to help new residents settle into their homes and communities. They are currently seeking donations of practical items such as clothes, trainers, smartphones, household goods, kitchen equipment, furniture, white goods, and supermarket vouchers. These everyday essentials can make a real difference to someone starting again.

The groups also need volunteers to act as befrienders and problem-solvers, offering time, local knowledge, and a friendly face to help people navigate daily life. Some items may not be suitable, and individual groups can provide guidance on what is most needed at any given time.
