Why we need a new Waste Plan
The current Waste Core Strategy Local Plan dates from 2012 and some parts of it now need updating.
Evidence to inform a new Waste Plan to replace the Waste Core Strategy is being developed. The new Waste Plan will set out how all types of waste will be managed over the next fifteen years. It will identify how much and what types of waste there will be, and what facilities we’ll need to manage it the right way. The plan will also guide where those facilities should go. Once adopted, the plan will be used to make decisions on planning applications for waste development.
Developing a new Waste Plan will allow us to:
- take account of up-to-date evidence
- address government targets for how waste should be managed
- plan for the infrastructure we need to enable re-use and recycling
Stay up to date
