On Thursday 29 January, we held an online public information sharing webinar about the A38 Bromsgrove Route Enhancement Programme (BREP). 

This project is a predominantly Department for Transport (DfT) funded project aimed at improving journeys, safety and reliability in and around Bromsgrove.

Webinar panel

The panel brought together a broad range of technical knowledge and expertise, including representatives from Worcestershire County Council, Jacobs, and Colas (the construction contractor). Panel members discussed the programme and responded to audience questions.

What the completed schemes will look like

Scheme B - Redditch Road


Improvements include:

  • existing footway widened to create a shared foot way and cycle way
  • keeping the existing road crossing

Scheme B - Stoke Road


Improvements include:

  • a new puffin crossing
  • road widened to create an additional lane northbound keeping the footway
  • a new footway and cycleway

Scheme C - Stoke Road Junction


Improvements include:

  • new controlled Tucan crossings
  • road widened to improve two lane entry to junction

Scheme D - New Road Junction


Improvements include:

  • new signalised pedestrian crossing
  • road widened to include two south bound lanes as well as the right turn lane
  • an upgrade to an existing pedestrian crossing

Scheme E - Oakalls Roundabout


Improvements include:

  • road widened to create a two lane exit
  • existing crossing upgraded to controlled Toucan crossings
  • existing footway widened to footway and cycleway
  • existing crossing upgraded to controlled pedestrian crossings
  • exisiting roundabout upgraded to a signalised roundabout circulatory carriage way widdened

Scheme F - Birmingham Road Junction


Improvements include:

  • existing pedestrian crossing upgraded
  • Carriage widened to create an additional south bound lane

Scheme F - School Lane Junction


Improvements include:

  • footways widened
  • carriage way widened and road markings updated to create an additional southbound lane
  • School Lane junction changed to left-in and left-out arrangement for light vehicles only buses will be rerouted
