Understanding Dyslexia for parents and carers

This 4-week course will help learners to develop strategies to support themselves and others with dyslexia.

Dyslexia affects how a person processes language, making reading, writing, and spelling more challenging. This free interactive workshop, run by SENDIASS and hosted by Learning Services Worcestershire, provides parents and carers with a clearer understanding of dyslexia and practical strategies to support their child’s learning.

Who it is for

This session is for parents and carers of children who have been diagnosed with dyslexia or are showing signs of having difficulties with reading and writing.

What to Expect

The course will include:

  • an introduction to dyslexia, how it affects learning, and common challenges children may face
  • practical strategies to help children develop their reading, writing, and spelling skills at home
  • information on how to work with schools to access support and reasonable adjustments
  • the opportunity to ask questions and hear from other parents who have had similar experiences

Session Details

This is a series of four two-hour interactive workshops with discussion, practical examples, and the opportunity to explore useful resources.
