15% Discretionary HAF places for children who need support

The main purpose of this programme is to support children and young people from low-income families, with a focus on those who get benefits related free school meals.

Across the HAF programme, up to 15% of discretionary places can be offered to children who are not benefits-related free school meal eligible.

These places are for children and young people who meet one or more of the following additional criteria:

  • children from low-income families
  • young carers
  • children assessed as being in need
  • looked after children from low-income families
  • children from refugee or asylum-seeking families
  • assessed by CWD panel

Families can apply themselves. A professional can also support the application.

To book, click here for Easter bookings or the ‘Book Now’ button at the top of page.

  • browse and select activities
  • register and select the additional criteria that you meet
  • add the name of a professional referee (if available)

The HAF team will check your registration. If you meet the criteria, your application will be approved for the next holiday period. All registered accounts will be re-checked against the listed HAF criteria above and latest FSM database, this includes if you have had a HAF account previously.

Places are given on a first come, first served basis until the 15% limit is reached.

Many providers offer paid places alongside HAF places if you are not able to access the discretionary places.
